More than 1000 years ago the palace was built in the middle of rice fields where now you`ll find a typical small city. While watching or trying out the old Indian martial art Kalaripayattu – which has given name to the resort – your eyes will meet the mountains of the Western Ghats. The palace can be discovered either walking barefoot or in slippers. It offers 18 spacious rooms, treatment rooms, a beauty center, an ample herb garden as well as an amazing library. All rooms are equipped with a large bathroom/WC, hair dryer, bath robe, air conditioning, refrigerator, health-bar, telephone and a seating area. The central attention while refurbishing the rooms and the whole palace was put on the harmonic mixture of old and new which now allows you to feel as being in a different time period while not missing any of the modern comfort.

The cuisine is also based on the roots of Ayurveda and consists solely of vegetarian ingredients. Oil is only used at a minimum amount as well as strong spices – all food is prepared in brass, iron or clay vessels. Your sense of taste is going to discover a new world after a short period of time with fresh vegetable and pure spices.

After a doctor`s consultation in which your life situation and physical condition is assessed you will start with an individually arranged therapy plan including Ayurvedic medicine, massages, oil baths, yoga, meditation and nutritional plan. The aim of this individual plan is to restore the natural balance of body and mind.

In order to support your healing experience there are no excursions planned during your stay. It is rather recommended to take time for oneself by participating in yoga classes or meditations. Cooking lessons, speeches or other cultural performances offer a bit of diversion. Simply let your mind wander by spending some time in the library or by taking a refreshing walk through the garden.

Depending on your individual emphasis and the duration of your stay different treatment packages are offered:

Ayurveda – Anti-Stress-Program (14 days)
Preserving your health is the key element of this program. It will help you find an inner calm and restore the balance of body and mind. This way sicknesses like a burn-out can be prevented.

Panchakarma – Cleansing- and Rejuvenating-program (21 or 28 days)
This intensive therapy is recommended for existing underlying diseases or for regeneration after medical procedures. A holistic regeneration is aimed at in order to give body and mind the chance to be wholly restored.

Ayurvedic – weight loss program (21 or 28 days)
Calculated weight reduction follows after your metabolism is boosted by an intensive purification of the body by following an Ayurvedic nutritional plan and massages. Your body`s youthful appearance will benefit from this program as well.

What to pack:

• On arrival you will be supplied with four sets of pajamas made of soft cotton and a pair of slippers.
• If you do not plan to extend your travel further, you will not need much clothing.
• We recommend: a scarf or shawl and socks – it can be cooler in evenings.
• Your own personal care products.
• If available, please bring your doctors diagnosis or other documents relating to your problems.

The Kalari Kovilakom resort is situated in Kollengode in the foothills of the Annamalai range, Kerala, India. The closest airports are Cochin (105km) and Coimbatore (75km). Also a railway station (Palghat) is located about an hour’s drive away.
